And here is the next portion of the Mentorshipstory: First meeting…The mentorship training by DataArt and experience whispered to me that there are two points which are very important for the first meeting: 1. Informal talk and acquaintance with each other (even if you met before) 2. Understanding and agreeing on the mentorship goalsSo, the day of our first meeting with Oleksandra Parkhomenko came. I proposed to start from small stories about ourselves, although we were acquainted at some extend. It turned out that we are both refugees and both switchers. We spent almost half of our time talking about ourselves and that was worth it as we built a bridge of trust between us. Very important lesson – do not be afraid to spend time on informal talk as your mentee (and you)) could be stressed and that will help much both of you to overcome the stress of beginning of something new.The second part of our meeting we spent on reviewing and refining the goals which Oleksandra has prepared and shared with me beforehand – we tuned them to be SMART and clear to us both (not only mentee has to work on the goals to achieve, but also a mentor should work on them to be achievable).I’d like to mention one more action required from us by coordinator of the Mentorship Program is “signing an agreement” of a mentor and mentee. This is just cool that DataArt took care about us to find ourselves in the controlled and expected environment. For example, one of the points of that “agreement” was the clear statement that “promotion is not expected as the result of the mentorship” )) It was really great move! All expectations from both sides were managed!I believe that our first meeting was a success and we ended it with the agreed next step – that is creation of Development Plan.To be continued…For now, follow #mentorship_by_katya to stay up to date

Mentorship: Preparatory stage. It was very easy to get prepared to mentorship as DataArt has the well-defined steps for that – proactive coordination of the Program, dedicated course to pass, series of Q&A sessions. I think it was the same from the mentee’s side (Oleksandra Parkhomenko please share your thoughts). Before our first meeting Oleksandra and I have already had the understanding, how to build our fruitful cooperation. And then I received the meeting request from Oleksandra to our first sync…Follow our story! #mentorship_by_katya

Mentorship… what is it about? Do you want to see a real-time story of it?The beginning: I decided to share my skills and knowledge to support and assist other women in IT.DataArt has set up “She For Her” Program supported by internal tool, which connects mentors and mentees. This is just easy to apply on the portal to become a mentor by submitting a short description of your qualifications, your career steps and skills you can help with. Afterwards a mentee has the possibility to choose a mentor and submit for mentorship. With consent of my mentee Oleksandra Parkhomenko I’m going to share our steps on the way. Follow our story!#mentorship_by_katya
